Can anyone provide me with some clear information of the license changes and when they come into effect.

I've wanted my bike license for quite sometime but only recently became in a position to think about, I've been putting it off until November when I turn 21 however as it means I can take my DAS.

Also what would be a rough cost of getting through

Cbt £120
mod 1 £25? how much is the hire of a bike usually
mod 2 £65? same question as mod 1
theory £35?
and a half days addition training, roughly same price as cbt?

DAS you can't do until you are 21 (which will probably all have changed by the time you are 21 any way.)

You can however do your restricted license (full license but restricted to 33bhp for 2 years).

All together I spent about 600 getting my license last february, (Including cbt, theory, mod 1, mod 2 & training) but can't remember breakdown of costs I am afraid.

Good luck. :)

I'm doing my CBT tomorrow with 90-One, ill ask about the tests and hire bikes and let you know.(just thought it would help to know prices from a local place)

Well, as far as I know, the licence changes don't come into play till Jan 2013, so you may be lucky if you manage to get everything done in November/December. I'd book well early, make sure you can get a place, because many people will be likely to suddenly try and get theirs done before the changes come into effect.

This is what I was thinking, I thought it was Feb 2013 for some reason though?

Thanks, I would rather not be stuck on a 400cc bike once it comes to buying, I rode a ZXR400 last year and found the riding position uncomfortable compared to a ZX6R.

Now you have the CBT done, get the theory done asap, get practice in on your Mod 1 now whilst you're 20 (if the school has their own private off road area then they probably won't mind you doing it on a 500), take Mod 1 on your birthday (should pass it, it's easy), take mod 2 asap afterwards.

CBT expired around 12 months ago. Do mod 1 and 2 both have to be taken at 21 then? was hoping I could get away with getting mod 1 and theory passed before November and book mod 2 for my birthday.
