i've had a look on the dvla site and it mentions points but doesnt say about disqualification. as my ban was an sp30 offense is it still 4 years as per the ruling - does it apply to all sp30s?

if so i've got a clean license! if not i've got 9 points and a ban still - bugger lol

OP is accurate username shocker ;)

If you've got your licence back after a ban, it's clean. But your info is a bit confusing, you were banned after an SP30 put you over the 12 point "totting up" limit?

I think im right with this:

The points stay on you licence for 4 years but insurance companies usually ask for any points within 5 years

what do you mean?
the points is 3 years for totting up, 4 years before they are removed. the ban is how ever long the ban lasts for.

You have to declare it for 5 years with most insurance places, unless it's drink driving which is longer. Don't fully understand what you are asking.

easy - my ban is for an sp30 but on the dvla website it says an sp30 stays on your license for 4 years. is that for points(which are very common) or a ban or what? is it for all sp30s?

nope - the sp30 was a straight ban. apparently doing 128 in a 60 with a load of others through a speed camera isn't clever.:p:D

ah right. it didn't say hence my question. cheers. do you know how long as i couldnt see on the dvla site?

As far as I know just the length of the ban, but I'm not positive. But it's still 5 years for insurance. it's also worth noting that points that are 3 years old are not used for totting up.

here we go four years for the ban
Four years from the date of conviction

If the offence is for:

* reckless/dangerous driving - shown on the licence as DD40, DD60 and DD80
* offences resulting in disqualification
* disqualified from holding a full driving licence until a driving test has been passed
