That picture is quite good showing it further away. Would be funny if there was a bunch of aliens right behind the mars rover egging that other alien on to see if the rover can catch it.

its a chop. i can tell from the pixels, and from seeing many chops in my time.

that would be my guess, assuming the image is real it's probably a rock formation with the angle making it look like that.
If you look at some of the rock formations in arid areas of the world you can often find some very funny looking rocks where different densities in layers have worn away at varying speeds.
The result can be very strange looking (large boulders on slender pillars are a fairly common one), add to that odd shadows and false colour methods used to enhance space imagery and you can probably get some very odd effects.

Looking at the second image it does look very striking, but I'm still very doubtful it's much more than a funny combination of the geography of the area, the shadows and the enhancement used (if it's not a flat out fake).

why is there never a pic of a little martian family with a bucket and spade, sitting on a towel waving to the camera. Instead we have the vague blurred and ambiguous images that we are all meant to make sense of... ridiculous!!

I feel the same way about the yeti/Big foot and it's little hairy family. It too, hates publicity

what you saying Nasa faked it ?, I'm not saying it's an alien but I doubt it's a chop, it just has to be a trick of light or something, why would Nasa be hosting photo-chopped images, unless it was for a joke ?.

I downloaded the original image from Nasa's site and zoomed in myself,
