Lifebook 4 life - any takers?

Sounds unlikely.

I think you may at best get one or two notebooks, but for life? never.

What is to stop them getting taken over or going bust.

They wouldn't do this offer if they weren't going to make money off it, it's just too big of an offer for them to make if they're losing money. There's bound to be a catch somewhere.

They say that they will have to check the laptop before they send you a new one. This seems to imply that they will be all too ready to decline you and leave you with a £1000 sub-par laptop. This means you will have to take out warranty, and this is probably how they plan to get you to pay for the laptops. As they begin to be able to produce the laptops on the cheap, the old laptop that you hand in and the warranty you pay are what buy you the new one.

Also, the Fujitsu site says they will replace your laptop for another with "like-for-like specifications". Not sure if this means " old high end laptop -> new high end laptop" or if it means "2.5GHz -> 2.5GHz". In 3 or 6 years, this could mean the laptops could be pretty much useless as technology advances.

I would be skeptical of anything that appears to give you something for free for life. There's ALWAYS a catch. It's just doesn't make business sense to supply maybe 10+ laptops for just £1000 and £40 a year warranty (£2200 for 10 laptops?). Maybe they're counting on you losing or forgetting about the paperwork in 3 years. Perhaps they may screen your bank details from the old laptops you send back.

The point is they're bound to have something lined up for the future to make them money, and it'll be at your expense.

Quite clearly says in the T&C:

"The replacement Lifebook value will be determined by the original purchase price shown on the invoice, increased by 10% every 3 years. For example; a Lifebook purchased for £1000 today would be exchanged for a model with a recommended retail price not exceeding £1100 in 3 years time."

well i have read its more aimed at corporate companies since the limit at 10 laptops max.

i think the idea behind it is that companies buy into this laptop scheme and then get more business like servers and shizzle. But for private customers i guess they will lose.

So im unsure. I just wonder if any ppl here work for companies that have taken the offer.

Its still a stupid offer, you have zero guarantee Fujitsu will still be around and selling notebooks in even 3 years.

I would only take this on the basis of getting one laptop if the price and spec were good for one, then any further ones would be a bonus.
