Lifehacker's List of Essential Downloads 2010

I didn't know about dropbox. That looks like one very useful piece of software.

It is very useful, I had heard lots of people mention it before but only really looked into it about 3 months ago. I now use it on all my machines, I can't live without it. It's and ideal place to store my documents and project folders for many things I use such as NetBeans, Eclipse and Processing. When I've been working on my desktop I just hit save and when I pick up my netbook later, everything is as I left it on my desktop, ready to continue working.

just out of interest why does that make VLC poor? it even says on there that the codec pack is more for people that like to use windows media center

I misread it - I thought it was to cover holes in VLC as well as the built in Windows media players. I always thought that MPC had better coverage than VLC, but I stand corrected - still prefer it as a player though ;)

What does ImgBurn do that the built in drivers in Win 7 don't? Not used it for a while as I prefer others for virtual drives and mounting images, but I have to say that I just burn with Win 7 now.
