i know being stupid and overclocking to a massive amount damages parts but what about stable overclocks with plenty of cooling? i know somee peope are paranoi and some think its harmless but id like a reliable answer. if i overclock a phenom 2 tri core 2.8 GHz processor to 3 or 3.2 will it affect the lifespan signiigantly assuming its kept at safe temps? thanks

It will have next-to-no effect if kept under control.

At worst it could reduce the life-span by a couple of years, and if you consider that CPU's will happily run for well over a decade (often much, much longer), you have nothing to worry about.
