"Lifetime" Warranty?

I bought a BFG 8800GTS 640MB (the older gen cards, not the 512's) from OCUK around 2 years ago now, on the product discription it read "LIFETIME Warranty from BFG" and that was one of the may reasons i bought it instead of buying from another manufacturer. However, after reading into it ive read many reports thats its only for US Customers or the Lifetime warranty isnt actually lifetime, and thats its limited to 3yrs etc.

so i wondered if anyone could clear this up for me, The cards still running perfectly, but im deciding weather to hang onto my card until it eventually dies or upgrade now if the warranty isnt truely lifetime.

Thanks in advance, and sorry if i should have really kept this a private matter or somthing :)

Well if its anything like Evga and I do believe they all follow the same model, then Im afraid its 2 years or 10 years if registered with 30 days of purchase.

i also thought it was 10 years outside the U.S...not that 10 years is needed on a graphics card.

as for not registered no warranty....i hadnt registered and when my bfg card messed up after 18 months. they still replaced it within a week and half

Just going by what i was told by BFG you have 30 days to register for the 10 years warranty then they confirm by mail.

My understanding is cards introduced prior to Feb 2008 in the UK had lifetime warranty and no registration or proof of purchase was needed, just quote your cards serial number when you contact BFG about sending it back. Cards introduced post FEB had 2 yrs warranty in Europe which could be extended to 10yrs if registered & proof of purchase was sent withing 30days.

this is correct, bought my 8800gtx oc in sep/oct 07 and didn't have to register it or anything, still going strong (sorta) even with the massive oc I've mamaged to get it up to :)

Yes I second this. If your card is bought after that period then the 30 days period applies. I think proof of purchase is all that is needed if you got before. So you should have a 8 years left on it. Should be enough.

Hmm ive only just registered a donkeys old 8600GTS so hopefully i'll have a big warranty. Wonder what it'd get swapped out for?

How long does it take for them to update your profile on there website after you have sent proof of purchase ?

Sent my pop off on the 15th of Jan, got updated and confirmation email sent yesterday (though I did resend my pop 1 week ago because I hadn't heard anything)
