The master bedroom bulb went on us this morning, only got around to changing it this evening. Now now when the switch is off the bulb stays on dimly.

tried a different bulb and same thing thing. Took a working bulb out the hallway and same thing. Never played around with electrics before as it has always been a leave it to the professionals view for me.

But would my assumption be correct it’s more than likely just the switch no longer breaking the connection properly and just replacing that will do the trick?

google seems to say so but nobody mentions the bulb being dimmer when the switch is off so wasn’t sure if that highlights another potential issue.

I'd double check the wiring behind the switch before replacing it completely. You may have a wire coming slightly loose. Turn off electrics to that switch first though.

There is an interesting video on Youtube from a company called Dave Savery Electrical services, he goes through possible issues.

This was posted on Jan 5th last year - You might want too fast forward the first few minutes but he does swear and a bit weird at times - I won't post the link.

That's not very likely, if that was the case you'd probably hear crackling and it would probably flicker and be inconsistent.

Most likely cause is an induced voltage, basically where there are two wires next to each other they can effect each other. A quick fix would be a different type of light bulb, so if you can find a compact florescent or even an incandescent bulb.
