Any recommendations for a lightweight (under 1.5kg) laptop that is also powerful?

Not being used for gaming, but will be used for statistical modelling (multi-core friendly). Screen no smaller than 12.1".

Price? not really an issue (say.. £1.5k?) as this is a business purchase.

Have been looking at the top spec IBM/Lenovo X61 but are there better alternatives.

In the same boat as OP really, but i need a semi decent GPU for light gaming also. I've been looking at the new Sony Vaio Z series and the Lenovo X300/301, might be worth having a look. Both are pretty feature packed and quite lightweight but the Sony has switchable graphics on the fly and the Lenovo has SSD for better everyday performance.

Always a bit more difficult when you start trying to mix light with gaming. I actually quite like the look of the new Samsungs here for a little machine that you could throw the odd game at:

Admittedly the 9200 isn't gonna love you for installing Crysis and 2KG isn't superlight. The specs are good though and the price is very reasonable :)
