Lightboost lowering Frames per Second

Hiya,

Yesterday i got my new monitor, a BenQ XL2411T. After tweaking some things i started up CS:GO. Got around 180 fps on a resolution id like to play on.

Now i did the well known lightboost hack. The difference is very noticable and i like it, however my FPS in CS:GO after this lightboost hack has dropped to 100-110. Is this normal? It makes the game fairly unplayable and not smooth anymore.

So i cant play with lightboost anymore because of this.

Is this normal and do i have to upgrade or did i do something wrong?

This is very interesting as I'm buying an nvida card and a xl2411t on payday and my main game is cs go.

I plan on trying the lightboost hack.

What resolution are you using and also what card have you got?

Also could you add me on steam : hairyangel

I'd like to ask you some questions If that's ok?

Im not quite sure what resolution i was using but it was 16:9 and 768 i believe with a gtx560, ill add you on steam when i get home. Ill also double check my res then :)

No.

300fps will be smoother than 60fps on any monitor due to less input lag.

At 60fps/60hz your mouse movement will be delayed by 16.7ms and 33.3ms, alternating between them at random. This causes choppyness. At 300fps your mouse movement will be delayed by 16.7ms and 20ms.

These figures will change depending on setup and aren't to be taken as accurate, they are simply an example of how fps improves responsiveness.

Alright so i tested it again. Made sure i have my BenQ XL2411T drivers installed and i hit 200+ fps. Now i installed the lightboost hack again and nomatter what resolution i play on, im only getting 120 fps.

I get 120 fps at 640x resolution and i get 120 fps at 1900x resolution. Looks like something is capping my fps, its not the fps_max command either. This also only happens in csgo, other games work just fine.

Probably related to the fact the Lightboost hack makes everything think you are running a 3D game and those are designed to run at 120hz only

Yeah im thinking something along those lines is the issue aswell, but i dont see how running a game in 3D (or atleast thinking it is) should limit your fps to your Hz.

probably something to do with synchronizing each frame with each eye in 3d mode.

lightboost is intended for 3d so hacking it must be triggering it

indeed. the active shutter 3D method needs to deliver 60Hz to each eye and to sync everything properly it must be capping your frame rate to 120 fps too.

TIP: Improving Convenience, Stability & Eliminating “Control+T”:
Once you’ve verified LightBoost works (Step 12), and the registry tweak was already installed (Step 4), you can make LightBoost “stick” by going to nVidia Control Panel and disabling “Enable Stereoscopic 3D” (clear the checkbox in Step 8). If the screen did not flicker when doing this, LightBoost is still enabled even after disabling 3D!
– Games launch in 2D without needing Control+T
– Driver stability is improved in this mode, less freezing occurs.
- VSYNC OFF now works much more reliably, reducing input lag, fps higher than Hz.
(Note: Some games may automatically switch resolutions; make sure it stays at 120 Hz)

Yeah figured this one out during the weekend aswell and i can confirm it works, however you have to enable and disable it everytime you start up and shut down. It wont stick when u tick off the box and then restart.
