So wanting to build a home gym, however there's no electricity to the garage and no means of getting it there unless I drill through 2 houses and rip the road up.

any ideas on how to light a single garage up?

was hoping for a battery/rechargable setup that I can take into the garage.

any thoughts?

you'll probably get some better options, but could a motorhome/leisure battery with solar panels work out? Not great for winter I guess, but could work!

How much are you looking to spend? there are a variety of approaches that could be used including Goal Zero do a load of stuff - rather overpriced with average features but good build quality and other options like the EcoFlow River power station and devices like that (paired up with some lights of some kind).

Albeit rather a limited setup (especially quite a small panel) but I've got a DIY setup like that and it has been really struggling this year as we get more dull days - though I could scale it up to help cope. Previous winters it has actually done OK but for some reason this year it isn't (it isn't panels ageing or batteries deteriorating).

USB lights and some powerbanks might be an idea. I have USB lights which look like normal LED bulbs, but the light they give out is a little dimmer. Perhaps things have moved on since I bought mine though.

Static exercise / spinning bike with dynamo charging a leisure battery. Low voltage LED lights. Your exercise generates electricity for lighting .

How much will the electricity companies charge you for putting in a feed? It would surely increase the resale value of the garage.

Do you have a safe space to charge a lead acid? If so the small ones used for invalid carriages are cheap and not that heavy, packing quite a punch still.

Wire up some low energy bulbs and your good to go (you will need 12v though), although things like under cabinet lighting, and long led chains are normally 12v to start with.

Eg this is 12AH https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mobility-Scooter-Battery-AGM-12v-12Ah/dp/B002USO09W you can get many different sizes and price points. 3.7kgs so not that heavy
But you do need to be able to do a lead acid charge, so needs to be outside or very well ventilated

I'd fit a few 5V LED strips all wired back to a single USB point. It's then really easy to just bring out a 10,000mah USB charging bank and plug it in. Assuming 4 lights at 5W each you'll get more than 2 hours per charge.

When you're done just take it back into the house and charge it. It avoids the need to charge a lead acid battery in the house, and is easier to charge as you can plug it into any USB wall charger.
