I am modding up a HAF 932 I picked up off the MM for £30. It had been previously sprayed to a pretty bad level, especially where the dust had not been removed before painting! Anyway, I shall be repainting the insides (coming along nicely) and will be cutting a window. Now I know everyone has different tastes, but I like to show off my system and light it up like a Christmas tree!

Anyway, the theme is going to be red and black, a few parts of the case will be painted red, fans will be red and lighting will be red. There's my problem- lighting. I plan on lighting it with my LED fans and some CCFL tubes, however, I like to see what is inside clearly, and red isn't the best colour for that! Here's what I'm thinking:

  • Red LED fans
  • Two 10cm CCFLs in the 5.25" bays backlighting the drive bay covers and lighting the case
  • Small white CCFLs by the door allowing for a clearer view of what's happening

What do you think? What effect will mixing the white and red have? Is there enough red? Opinions please!

RED LED strips as you'll find on the auction site for peanuts. There's a 120cm/60 LED strip available from HK for like £2.79 or even less. You can cut them every so often to make custom lengths and wire all up to a 12v source.

Here's a 30cm strip (cut down from a 60cm strip) lighting up some random cardboard boxes.

Had to put it on flash mode (and cover it) as the colours were just washed out and light overexposed otherwise and was not a true representation of the light effect.

And Orange ones, top and bottom in my case
