Hi all,

Had an extension built last year. The sparky put up a couple of temporary lights like this:

There are several other lighting cables hanging down like this:

I had assumed that I would need to cut the looped cables and connect both ends to the light fittings, but am confused by the fact that the already connected lights just have a single cable.

Have tried gently pulling on the loops to see if they are just a single cable with the end tucked into the ceiling, but it appears not.

One of the two temp lights is switched from 2 different switches, and the other from just one. Both have a single cable feeding them. All of those without a temp light have what seems to be a continuous loop.

Any thoughts?

The lights are in series with the temporary light being at the end of the run, so only one cable because it doesn't go on to another light.

You do need to cut the loops and connect both parts into the fitting.
