Howdy :)

I'm sure some of you will have upgraded, but if you upgrade from v3.5 to 4.0, do your ratings/flags/colours/edits save though the upgrade?
Or is everything lost as its a new software?

Cheers

Most things are imported with the catalogue but how it handles some processing has changed between versions so, I think Lightroom will highlight these and allow you to process the changes or retain the original effect though I can't remember (how bad's my memory it wasn't that long ago ffs)

Also you can have lightroom 4 and 3 on the same system so try the demo on a backup of your catalogue and see if anything untoward happens :)

Everything is preserved from the LR3.5 Catalogue when you upgrade, Ratings/flags/edits/smart catalogues etc. LR4 will convert your old Catalogue so make sure you've backed it up just in case something goes wrong.

When you view an image in the Develop Module, that was processed in LR3.5, you will get the option to convert it with the new LR4 process. You can do this one by one or by selecting a bunch of them.

When I migrated to LR4 it left my old LR3 catalog alone and just imported it into LR4. Always a good move to backup before migrating though :)
