Is this not possible? I don't have Lightroom CC, just 5.7.1 I believe. I think I'm confusing myself.. updated ACR as far as possible, updated LR as far as possible. Not sure what else I need to do. Haven't really used LR for a while.

Is it not possible to open RAF files in LR if you're not using CC?

EDIT: I'm talking about files from my Fuji X-T10.

No as as 5.7.1 has not been updated since 2014 and the XT10 was released after. The best way around it is to download a DNG convertor to convert your RAF files into an Adobe RAW file.

Just Google one there are loads available for free but it a is further step and I understand its more hassle.

Thanks. That might be my backup. Other forums seem to suggest editing the exif to make Lightroom think it's an XT1 (which it does support). Doing this in Scite seems to break the files though.. currently failing to figure out how to use ExifTool :(

Gave up on ExifTool. Converted to DNG, now wondering why I don't have the film simulation presets under Camera Profiles?

Perhaps because I have converted to DNG? I thought that should keep all the exif intact?

Hmm, don't know the answer to that unfortunately as I didn't use any of the film simulation profiles when I had my Fuji.
Another option is to use Silkypix (came with your camera) to convert to .DNG and apply a film simulation in there before the conversion.

Again more hassle but if Lightroom is your tool of choice and unless you are willing to subscribe to CC (which I also refuse to as well as it has no value to me to do so) workarounds have to be used.
Another option is to move away from Lightroom altogether which I am gradually trying to and have been trying a few alternatives over the last few weeks, some listed below if you fancy trying them but I'm sure there are others knocking around.

1: Corel After Shot Pro - Has a free trial
2: Affinity Photo - Doesn't have a free trial
3: Cyberlink Photo Director 8 - Has a free trial

I've tried 1. & 3. and plan to give 2. a purchase at some point in the future, Photo Director is the most like Lightroom and I quite like it but I've had some performance issues with it that maybe localised to my machine (or not!). After Shot Pro is also good but less familiar and doesn't feel as intuitive however with some time spent I've had good results.

Thanks. I took most of my shots on JPEG after hearing about how great the film simulation was. Took a boatload using velvia and they look great. I have about 20 (of 400) that I took in RAW, one being a sunset. Just wanted to compare the JPEG/Velvia to the RAW+Velvia applied. I think Silkypix is probably the best way forward.

Has anyone tried editing the RAF files in a text editor to get them to import? I'm really lazy, would rather be able to stick them straight into LR (whatever it's quirks) and be done with it. Tried editing in Scite but it broke the files
