Lightroom and SSD?

Just realized that all my Lightroom database and previews are on my mechanical drive, along with the full RAW files.

Is it worth moving the database and previews to the SSD, and if so how do I point it to that drive, whilst leaving the original RAW on the mechanical drive?

Physically move them and then File > Open Catalog.

I have my catalogue and cache on SSD but I remember reading an Adobe article that said it wasn't really worth it. I guess the files and the amount of I/O isn't actually that great to benefit from a SSD.

I wasn' t too sure how much difference it would make, but I had the space so thought might as well give a try.

Seems better of course, but placebo effect possibly!
