Lightroom CC releasing tomorrow?

I just can't find a way to download it at all.. it's not in the CC app and when I click on download from their webpage it just downloads the CC app :( probably me being stupid!

And I'm also curious how it runs for you as I'm still waiting for my iMac 5K to arrive.. I hope it runs well otherwise I'm going to cry.

It runs faster. It's probably the same as running in low res mode or a normal 27" imac.
Sliders update fast and it seems as does the crop tool etc.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to use the GPU (OpenCL) to actually do the 1:1 renders, so it's still worthwhile to pre-render. Capture One is much better in this regard from my limited testing. CPU temps are higher, so it's clearly making better use of them.

Aside from that, it doesn't seem like much has changed tbh.

"Performance does depend on hardware. As you might expect, the difference on the iMac with 5K Display is dramatic."

I'm happy that I won't have to run LR at 1440p. The lower pixel density hurts my eyes now it seems.

Click the "buy" link and then select the dropdown for "I want to buy" and select "Upgrade" :)

I'm noticing LR6 is snappier, it is loading my RAWs in the develop tab quicker and dossing about the modules is quicker too. I'll know just how well implemented GPU acceleration is when I come to exporting this big wedding set later on though. This is where that feature should come in handy the most.

I doubt exports will use the gpu.

I would describe it as essentially Lightroom 5 with a 5k iMac fix, with a few features bolted on. Not a bad thing, they could have messed it up with something radical, but the GPU acceleration is only done half heartedly akin to when photoshop first supported Open GL. I don't expect people with lower res screens to notice much difference.
I was hoping to see some Open CL implementation like capture one has.

Capture one seems like a really great piece of software and images look great in it (was testing it in case LR was going to be CC only). However I don't currently have the time to go through it's learning curve and customise everything to how I like it. There is something to be said for the simplicity of lightroom. If you tack on VSCO keys then you also have fast keyboard editing like Capture One.

Once wedding season is over, I may spend some time with Capture One and see how I like it then. I need to somehow make a preset in C1 to match my lightroom processing style.

I have a wedding to do tomorrow, but when I get time I'll do a test with the same images as before and we'l be able to see if there is a difference. Unfortunately I've already deleted LR5, but the previous vid shows the issues.

I don't think photographers even need photoshop these days anyway so why sub to it? I don't think it's really worth anymore.
Elements or a free photo editor is more than enough in combination with LR for most imo.

You'd think that but I'm using it with a GTX 770 and haven't noticed any real gains, they really do need to fix the performance as moving between photos has become extremely tedious with Lightroom.

This is what really needs improving now. Still need to pre-render. I was hoping for adobe to use opencl, but I should have known better. Right now our GPU's are hardly being taxed at all. This still untapped resource could be used to pre-render pictures ahead of time as we are working.
As for the other performance improvements, if LR was already fast you are not likely to notice much difference. To use gaming speak, it's like going from 100fps to 200fps. Sure there is a big difference in fps, but it isn't very perceptible. On my 5k, it's like going from 15fps to 30fps, which is very noticeable. However it's still not perfect as I was hoping for something like 60fps.

It's cheaper than buying physical copies.

At the current pricing, for both LR and PS, you will have to make the physical copies lasts about 5 years before you break even.

If you just want LR. CC is way more expensive, even with Adobe CC teaser rates.

For me it's not about the money anyway, I just don't want to end up renting EVERYTHING in life, like it will if this trend continues.

GPU enabled = Faster editing but really slow when flicking through different images. Image displays then blurs then displays again.
GPU disabled = Slower editing but instant image loading when flicking through them, as long as they are pre-rendered. Might as well have stayed with LR5.

Considering adobe has had nearly two years to sort this out, they have almost done sweet * all in that time.
