Hi all,
Currently I have a a Early 2015 Retina MacBook Pro, 13". Its got 16gb of ram, built in 1.5gb Intel Graphics chip, Intel i5 2.7ghz
For day to day usage its great, and it handles lightroom work very well. However, I have recently been looking into external GPUs and wondering what kind of benefit I could see from Lightroom performance if I were to buy an external housing and wack an RX580 graphics card in there? I could get it all setup for around €750 (bloody miners!) which isn't out of the question. It would mean on my work (windows) laptop I could get some gaming in. However my main goal would be improved Lightroom performance.

These are the highlighted benefits.
Lightroom Classic CC
(Win, Mac) Speeds up the task of adjusting images in Develop module.
(Windows-only) Accelerates rendering of images in Library module's Gridview, Loupe view, and Filmstrip.
Provides a significant speed improvement on high-resolution displays, such as 4K and 5K monitors
So for me, I would only theoretically see a benefit in the Develop module, which is fine. Performance increase here would be nice. Also I will soon be adding a 2K monitor to my home setup and some researching around seems to see a noticeable difference here as well.
So on paper, all looks good. But I'd like to hear from those here both in Windows & Mac if they have seen any benefits or differences from enabling Graphical Acceleration or if its just a gimic?
Thanks in advance
