Hi,

I have justed downloaded lightroom. When i view any picture that have taken in RAW it is very dark if i look at the jpeg i took at the same time its at the correct exposure etc. What am i doing wrong when it comes to importing into lightroom?

I have a canon 400d thanks.

Jeremy

You're not doing anything wrong, you just need to adjust the brightness and exposure levels to make it light again, then adjust what ever else you want depending on what you want the final image to look like.

Remember that a JPG is processed and a RAW isn't.

if i use the software thats comes with the canon 400d to view the RAW files that look exactly the same as the jpegs that its has generted. Why does lightroom not.

and thanks for your post.

because usually the software that comes with your camera, will process the RAW image, in exactly the same way the camera will

ie the camera adjusts brightness to 50 and contrast to 60 or whatever when its out, and the RAW software that comes with the camera does the same thing as it knows what the camera does to the JPEGs it outputs

Adobe is a 3rd party product so has no idea what your camera does before it outputs a JPEG, so leaves everthing at default settings.
