Can someone help. I might be just getting my knickers in a big twist.

When exporting my final work to .JPG I untick all the export boxes including the resize assuming this will export to the largest size..

However, when I checked the image size in elements, some, not all the images comes back with 6 x 4 inches with a 300dpi. which means i loose DPI when i increase the file file size. I don't want Lightroom to decide this for me.

The reason I ask is that i have a number of images that need printing 6" x 9" with a DPI of 300.

In elements, before i picked up Lightroom on trial, I just worked with the saved the maximum size but lightroom seems to be doing it's own thing.

How can i make light room produced larger JPGs to let me decided later?

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks

300dpi x 9inches = 2700 pixels, so export the photos with the long side at 2700 pixels.

If you uptick that option, it output at the photo's native res.

Thanks Raymond..

That's what i thought.. as the image resize box is unticked but when checking the image size in Elements, it's come back with a 6" x 4" exported file.. if i increase the size to 6 x 9 it it od course looses looses dpi?? I'm now starting to wonder if this is something to do with the trial version.

I do, and it's pretty simple.

Under Image Sizing, i tick the long edge and work pick a pixel count and leave it at that. The 240 dpi is meaningless really as it is not 240 dpi with a 900 pixel count width. That field only comes into play if you change the field on the other box to inches (from pixels).

The User Presets are saved, you can see I have some set for watermarks, some for Facebook, some for forums etc etc.
