My fabulous ship
They noticed I was browsing the site and I had given my email and phone number (you have to) when using the network designer tool they have.

Anyway they have an offer for preorder of their generation 2 kit, apparently you no longer have to worry about master and slave setups as it can mange automatically on top of the feedback per device (now know the state of the light and its consumption)

Definitely gonna get this stuff.

I'm gonna get sockets and lights for now - may look into the central heating options too for zoned central heating... makes me wish I had got underfloor heating now.

Ace. I have a few things of theirs (well, the hub, a lightswitch and a double gang socket). It is great it's just so bloody bright at night if you have the socket on. I wonder if gen2 is a bit more diffused or anything.

Need to have a look into this again.

What was the pre-order offer? Available to anyone? I've got my whole house set up with their light switches and quite a few power sockets. Heatmiser for UFH zones so will be interested to see what their zoned heating can offer.

Got these for mine when I had LW kit in my flat. Had the light switches in the bedroom.

Also worked great on the light on the smoke detector and TV.

How much was the discount? quick google seems to put the double sockets at 35-40 each, i need to fit the whole house out soon but thats a bit steep for the number i need

I'm also interested in the new Gen2 equipment but was disappointed to learn that the dimmer switch doesn't have the ability to be a standard on/off switch. All my LED bulbs are non-dimmable and don't want the added expense of replacing them all.

According to the reply I got multiple gang dimmer switches will also be available sometime after launch.

So the offer is on starter kits - it's only £20 off, here are the infographics from the email:

On a side note, the lights on the items are now changeable so you can change the colour or turn them off.
I am ordering a load tomorrow, total comes to £1100 :( that will guarantee delivery for the 3rd (release day)

unfortunately they don't have 3 way dimmers until early next year so that rules out my hall way and landing light. no biggie.

I also noticed the link has jumped in price by £40...

Wow at those prices! My whole house is LWRF for lights, and most sockets. Without doing any sums I'm sure it'd be £2-3k for me to change. Would need a few triple gang light fittings too.Ah well, nevermind sure I'll survive for a few years longer.

Quick Q seeing as there's some owners here...

I had some kitchen LED downlights fitted before we got into Hue, the bulbs aren't replaceable so if I want to control it all through Alexa I'm pretty sure I'll need to go lightwaverf.

2 questions:

1) I assume I'll need the lightwaverf link hub thingy, I assume this will just sit in the cupboard with the hue bridge and smartthings hubs I have and just fade into the background?
2) If I get the triple gang dimmer switch when available will I be able to set each switch on there to it's own command? Each switch will control a section of the lighting and I like being able to control them independently with the dimmers I have now.. so can I set the first one to something like "zone 1" and say "alexa, turn zone 1 off" or is it the same command across all the dimmers?

Thanks!

1. Yes unfortunately another redundant hub to do one thing when all could have done it.
2. You would be able to do what you can now, plus smart switch, you connect the switches to the hub, and the hub to alexa via the lightwaveRF skill, you will need to create the voice commands and so yes, you can say "zone 1" etc and it will do as programmed.

Additionally, the fact that you get feedback now is a vital upgrade because currently, you don't know what is on or off.

Think I'm going to pre-order today, grudgingly, the 2 gang lights are a complete ripoff - £30 more expensive than the current 2 gang pricing, and even they are expensive compared to dumb switches.
