hi there, my sister is looking for a laptop roughly £700 budget.

Looking for lightweight ideally 2-2.5kg. this is probably the most important aspect. we'll have to juggle the rest to get a decent ish spec for the price i guess.

What are my options. Vaio's, toshiba seem to be out of reach.

Fujitsu Siemens ESPRIMO Mobile M9410 is roughly what im after i guess. any other ideas?

You sure you want to spend £700, for her to probably just do work and general surfing on?

she wants lightweight thats the key and to last 3 years+

i guess its up to her. lol she's just started earning so her first big spend i guess

There aren't many 14" notebooks these days it seems, most manufacturers are doing 13", 15" and now 16".

Dell have stopped doing the Inspiron 13 for some reason (wasn't released very long ago either) but the XPS M1330 and even the Studio XPS 13 may be worth a look. The Studio XPS is the more upmarket of the two and starts at £749, but there's a 10% discount code available at the moment which brings it down to within her price range. The M1330 is still very solid though, and available with a few nice colour options, including pink if she's into that sort of thing! I've got one myself and if you spec it with the standard 4-cell battery (which still delivers over 2 hours of use) and the LED-backlit display, it's quite slim and lightweight.
