Lightweight News/Blog CMS

Hey all,

Looking for a lightweight News/Blog CMS that will allow users to login and posts news updates.

Want something lightweight that I can custom easily to my needs.

Any recommendations?

Not really lightweight though.

I should add I've designed the site so want to bolt something on within the site as a News section.

If you don't think wordpress is lightweight then I suspect you'd be horrified at the CMSs I use at work.

Wordpress is probably the best option, even if there are more light-weight CMSs available – it's just so well supported and there is so much documentation on the web re customisation.

Lightweight doesn't really explain requirements, I mean you could say that having any form of web gui would be bloat so something like Pico (http://pico.dev7studios.com/) or other flat systems may do you.

If you really want lightweight, roll your own.

Ghost is very nice but requires node.js, but certainly is the "in" thing atm.

Ghost is a viable option but I don't know enough about it to say if you can design your own theme with it or how you do.

WordPress certainly isn't heavyweight. They've made massive improvements over the the last 6 months.

If it's simply articles you want to put on the site with little else, then just create a db with a few tables and be done with it. Can't get much more lightweight than that.

When it comes to being lightweight it really does deliver - no database and direct page editing. I haven't used it personally but I hope to in the future, either way check it out.

Couple I've looked at in the past are Anchor - http://anchorcms.com/ and Stacey - http://www.staceyapp.com/

I really liked Anchor, that Ghost one looks very nice as well!
