These have been the most recent games that I've enjoyed.

Think it comes down to being easy to play with linear path, and doesn't take overly long to complete. And the added story progression by cutscenes or ingame provide a plot that engages.

Don't take this the wrong way but what is the purpose of this thread?

Are you just telling us you liked them? asking for suggestions for similar games?

Well there were two Riddicks, both were excellent so have you played them both?

If you have only played Escape from Butcher Bay then try Dark Athena and vice versa.

Other than that there's not much really like them - they are both somewhat unique in a way. Try Mass Effect I guess that's a spacey RPG type game with Third Person Shooter elements and is excellent to play with a pad.

Chaser arguably fits the bill, that is a linear game with plenty of cutscenes. Standard shooter so easy enough to play. However, it does take quite a long time to complete as it has over 30 levels.

OK, re-reading post it seems a bit vague. I was after recommendations of games, using those two as a yard stick.

I forgot about Mass Effect. Didn't even consider it due to RPG overtunes. And not too sure about all the conversation paths, but I did enjoy the first Knights of the Old Republic years ago.

Games completed recently and enjoyed:
Bioshock
Chaser
Pariah

Boring games completed:
Fallout 3

I'm still waiting on Dark Athena to drop in price. It's cheaper to get it on both consoles (don't have) than the PC.

Aye but it does come with Escape from Butcher Bay (updated with better graphics, etc.) which makes it a bit better. I thought it was an excellent game.

I'd definately recommend Mass Effect. It's nowhere near as RPG based KoTOR and does have real-time combat where you can hide behind items go into FPS mode, etc. Maybe get a demo and see if you like it.
