does matching monitors make a difference or just the fact you have 2 nice monitors that fit together and not look odd??

ive got a Benq GL2250 connected to pc, but now using for 360 unless wanting to watch movies, with a crappy 17" no brand(was my missus) for my pc via onboard vga and thinking if i should get another GL2250 or a 24" of some kind(saw an asus for less than the benq, but didnt realise prior to purchase), so i got nice display for both..

:edit: just saw my monitor on this site for 30 quid less than what i paid from local shop couple months ago ffs  the ironies

Ha I guess it was ;)...

Okay then let's say I don't match, what would be a better choice for upwards of £100? The Benq is a cracking monitor, but I needed a monitor replacement and didn't see better at the time of purchase..

It really makes very little difference other than aesthetics imo. My logic has always been to spend as much as your budget allows on your primary display as this is the one you will look at the most, when your gaming, browsing the internet etc. The secondary display tends to be just that. Secondary. If your only ever going to game on the one, you dont need 144hz or gsync on the second screen. If your only ever going to do photoshop on the main one, you don't need colour critical quality on the second.

Ultimately, it's down to what you need and what you want to achieve from your dual displays. I've had several different setups over my time with 2 screens. At one point I had a Dell 2407-HC matched with a Dell E248WFP. Both looked similiar at a quick glance, but the 2407 was about twice the cost of the E248 and of much higher quality.

Not too long ago I upgraded to a ROG Swift, this has become my main monitor, and the 2407-HC is now my secondary (and rocking up for 13,000 hours of us so it aint doing bad!). They don't match in the slightest but it's fine. When I'm gaming I don't even keep the 2407 on so you don't notice it. For general surfing both are fine.

If you want three screens for surround gaming, then absolutely have them match, that way you don't get any oddities. But for normal use, it really doesn't matter imo.
