I was running my system overclocked but decided to put it back to stock speed, i have a CoolIT Eco 240 and the pump running at 4300rpm~ is making a really whiny sound.

Will it damage the pump if i put it on a fan controller and lower the rpm to 2000-3000rpm?

The temps are fine 29-31 degrees across all cores, im just bothered about damaging the pump.

I would'nt have thought it would damage it. Are'nt they supposed to plug in to the CPU fan header on the motherboard which regulates the speed via PWM anyway? If anything i would have thought it would prolong the pumps life.
