Im having a problem with my speedtouch 510 router trying to connect at too high a speed. The connections it establishes are unstable. When it connects at a lower speed it stays connected for days but unfortunately it usually tries for an unstable 8meg connection.

Is there anyway to limit its attempts to connect or is the dsl link not dependant on router settings

Thanks, I'll take a look at it anyway. This line has fallen over 6 times in the last 50 mins so obviously a solution is going to be needed someway.

Its been 12 days since they switched it over to maxdsl, it has to be past the testing by now right..

Its still doing it unfortunately. Ive read interleaving might not be as bad as I thought, maybe I can ask for that but I'd prefer just to find a code to make it go slower since speed isnt vital

I got this far:

It doesnt seem to register anything I try though, anyone know of a place that might have hexidecimal codes for the right panel there

So it can be done the other end ? Great I thought that wasnt going to be possible due to my router. Hopefully I'll get lucky with tech support next time I ring

I phoned tech support but they are having none of it and insist I use the 330 instead of the 510
They promised to perform a line test next time if I setup it like that on the main socket. They said SNR was not adjustable but I'll ask again next time.

They told me to take apart the main socket but we dont have a split plate one as Ive seen previously described.

Edit:
Just to update this for reference, removing wire 3 from all sockets in the house solved the problem. No adverse effects, now it connects faster then ever and it has not dropped once since the changes. Very easy to do also, no wires need to be cut just pull them out
