Hi,

I have recently just had a little Baby Girl who is now 5 weeks old. I have around 2hrs at a time to play games between the feeds.

She must have a sixth sense for when I turn on my computer to have some downtime lol :p. I am asking if you are able to give me a list of some decent games that are pause-able and I am a bit behind on the decent single player games. I tried Bioshock 1 but it’s so old I am not enjoying it as much as I though. I think its the mechanics I don’t like

I do play allot of LoL, Planetside 2 which is not possible now because I get interrupted which isn’t fair on my friends.

I want to keep away from shooters I seem to have a lot of them. I want something different.

Turn based strategy sounds like something that would work well, or the classic point and click adventure games.

I'm with you here. My wee man is 8 weeks tomorrow and I get very little time at the PC now.

Mainly I play a bit of WoW (doing dailies etc, not much raiding except LFR), but I have started working through the single player of Starcraft 2 again (trying harder difficulties) and Black Ops 2 single player when the mood takes me.

X-com enemy unknown is turn based strategy so pausing is not an issue & it's probably the best game I have played this year.

I found it ok while I was off work but now I am back I dont get as much time lol

Would the Total War games be a good shout - Id prefere the best looking one's I have got Xcom just need more of a selection of games :)

Definitely.
They can be played as much or as little as you want. Even the real-time battles can be paused mid-charge.
I often pop on, queue a few buildings, move a couple of campaign armies and save/log off. Saving the big battles for when I will be less likely to be interupted.

For better looking go for Napoleon or Shogun 2. For the most fun to play (imo) go for Rome or Empire.
Or just choose which time-period you fancy most lol, as that's what will ultimately effect your enjoyment.

The single player battle AI does begin to get a little predictable after a while (in the older ones especially) but simple mods can change that if you want :) (and there's hundreds out there to choose from).

Iknow how you are feeling, I still have the same problem with my 2yr old son. I used to play Eve, WoW and other time consuming games, but they have all stopped due to my son's pestering when he sees my laptop open. My only gaming sessions are when he is in nursery and I have the morning off from shift work.

+1 for Skyrim. I find by the time I've got some PC time to spare, I'm too bloody tired for the likes of Planetside. Skyrim, on the other hand, is quite relaxing.

It gets a lot easier as time goes on though. Also, google Controlled Crying. I have twins, and I didn't start to use it until they were 14 months. Saved my life, literally the best thing we ever did for us & them.

just want to say my son is 7 and I STILL don't have any PC time.

In fact I've given up on it and now jump onto simple ipad games.

I'm happier, missus is happier and my son is happier. I did try to fight it and get my "pc" time in but it just wasn't worth the hassle :)

5 weeks old is WAY too young for controlled crying. You should look to do it about 5-6 months if its an issue. I was never a fan of it, but one of my kids would get throw up hysterical so tried something else. But with twins.. well whatever works!

XCom is a good one to pause and come back to, but I find any game including MMOs is good provided you dont mind just walking away. Probably not the best idea to be a healer in a group!

Download Splashtop 2 or Kainy to stream PC games to your iPad. Works fantastic with games like Civ 5 and Xcom.

OT i just wait till my 4 kids and mrs go to bed about 10pm and play till about 12-1am most nights, tbh im knackered int morning like but hey ho, a hobby int it

I Try to do this but at the moment its all the night feeds that are killing me. For example I stayed up till 1am last night thinking I missed the feed and expected to go to sleep. Ooooohhhh noooooo She missed her feed by 2hrs and then decided to want feeding 5mins I got into bed haha

Safe to say I am starting to get used to it and the lack of the sleep but I am stubborn as hell so I will get my gaming in and it will never go away ha-ha

Pause button is your friend on this one...

got a 11 month old myself, it can be annoying even more so when I've got a missus that simply doesn't cope well seeing someone else try to get some 'me' time...

But, it does get easier. First three months were a nightmare, for both of us. But we've learned to make use of what time we have, and I tend to game once the missus and kids are in bed. After 10pm, as I don't go to bed till 1am I get quite a few hours to do what I want, even got a desk now as well.

Sadly, little un is now teething , controlled crying is something we do to some extent but we don't always use this method. Sometimes you need to just learn to game with a little un on your lap - although they do grab the controller a lot, I sometimes have racing games on and she watches the screen and loves it..

Including your kids into your gaming can earn bonus points with the missus as well lol Do feel your pain, been there already, it is hard work.

Wow! Some of you almost sound as though you would prefer to be gaming rather than having to suffer the inconvenience of bringing up your own children!
