Limited or no connectivity Wireless Problem

Hi,
I've got a home hub 1.0 and have just started having a new problem. My PC is wired to it and connects no problem. My friend's laptop also connects no problem wirelessly.

My laptop however, after several years will no longer connect wirelessly. The connection kind of connects, but is said to have limited or no connectivity. No use of the internet works at all in this state.

Any ideas on what could be the problem?

I've tried "repair connection" but to no avail.

Thanks.

go into wireless adapter properties and remove all the previous connections, then do a refresh on wireless networks and you will have to type in the password again.

You could try turning off the security and seeing if that connects. Then put it back on and try again.

I've just had a similar sounding problem with a bt home hub. Have a look HERE

Basically it was a problem with the firmware, the latest firmware addresses a lot of wireless issues, there is a scheduled download thing from bt which didnt work or a way of doing it manually. (HERE is a guide)

Hope it helps

Thanks all for your help - much appreciated.

Turns out when I tried a wired connection, google would load and I could get as far as the search results page for any search term. Following any of these links however lead to the "server could not be found" message.

I tried disabling the firewall and this seems to have fixed it. I've changed to windows firewall for now, perhaps firefox is somehow blocked in the settings somewhere? (PC Tools Firewall).

Thanks again.
