Limited slip diff

However there are various types available, and I've no idea what is considered the best type for the MX-5 :)

Do you mean in general for cars or are you saying there are different types of LSD for the MX5 ?
 
In general for cars, I've got no idea about specifically for the MX5. Different types can be less or more aggressive and intrusive in day to day driving. You can also get very different torque biasing characteristics among the same type of device depending on how they have been set up.

It's one to ask people experienced in the car what they would recommend, because LSD's are not one size fits all.

i have the torsen type 2 from a 1.8s in my 1990 mx5.

it is much better than an open diff!

corners a lot better, it doesnt spin a wheel coming off round abouts anymore.

Yeah the Torsen one is the one to get so im reading.. more readily available in the MK2's it seems but I think the GF will end up with one of those anyway.
