limiting bb connection

hi guys, my girlfriends son has moved in and plays a lot of online games and skype at the same time which has slowed my connection. Is there a way or a program that i could use to limit the bandwidth he uses i.e limit him down to say 1mb ?

A router with Quailty of Service (QoS) facilities would be the obvious solution.

Your existing router may already have the options available. If not you'd need to replace it. The choice of replacement would depend on the type of connection and your budget.

If he's wired just set his speed/duplex to 10 full on the NIC and on the port if you didn't have any QoS on the router. This is assuming you have a fairly quick connection otherwise you'll have to apply QoS.
