Limiting Factor?

Hi guys, would putting a 6850/6870 in an athlon x3 455 create a bottleneck?

of course I should have said - it will be used for gaming on a 50" TV at 1080p.

Arnt most games GPU intensive now anyways? x3 should be more than sufficient for now. But i reckon you could do with a x4 or x6 at some point soon.

Nah, it'll be fine. Like shane says most games like GPU power more than anything. If possible, you could always overclock the CPU a bit though, Athlon IIs are great for that.

Maybe a slight bottleneck in more CPU intensive games.

For only £10~£15 extra, it make more sense to go for the 6870, with it being faster as it has 160 more stream processor, and higher default clock.
