Hi there

I recently migrated to sky.

Ever since then my line keeps dropping throught the night and sometimes during the day, and my upload speed seems to be jumping between 100 - 160

My download speed is fine and it varies between 5.9 to 7mb.

My line stats are as follows:

Connection Speed 5984 kbps 160 kbps
Line Attenuation 48 db 13.5 db
Noise Margin 2 db 7 db

Im on the 16mb Max service.

Before I was with zen and i never had any problems with line droppings.

I just have one cable running from my master socket going to my router upstars and I have a filtered face plate installed.

Anybody got any ideas why my line is doing this?

Thanks
Chris

You've got some weird stats, your download speeds are more then I would have expected given the line att of 48dB and your upload snr margin is also quite low hence the low upload speed. Have you tried connecting the router to the master socket direct behind the faceplate? If your up/down speeds get better then that might indicate a problem with the cable from the master to the extension.

Your upstream connection speed is very low for being on the max package with sky - it should be around 768Kbps.

I'd suggest (if possible) removing the extension cable from the equation and connecting your router directly to the master telephone socket in order to provide you with the best possible line stats.

If your line is still dropping it might be worth while making a quick call to them and checking if they've got you on ADSL2+ or not.
