Line length

Does anyody know a way of finding your true line length to the exchange? I can only find as the crow flies which is useless really.

I believe you used to be able to find out by dialing 17070 and doing a loop back test.

Unless you can access the BT plant records you can only make a best guess really.
Even if you know the attenuation does help due to bad joints, aluminium and other stuff skewing the results.
