Hi All,

Can you let me know if the below looks ok? Am looking at a friends ADSL connection and is downloading at 30k max despite looking like he's connected at almost 2mb.

Thanks!

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1856 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 15.5 db 31.0 db
Noise Margin 15.1 db 21.0 db

Which ISP? If it's via BT Wholesale he'll probably only be on the 1.5Mbps IP profile - the IP profile will be given in the BT Speedtest (instructions in sticky).

It's Sky so am guessing BT wholesale. Problem is 1.5mpbs would be fine, that would equate to roundabout 180k/b down right? Problem is he is getting more like 30k/b. I've tried Linux, Solaris and OSx and plugged straight into the router to bypass the wireless, seems strange given that the router is connecting at more.

It could be BTw or it could be Sky LLU.
It wouldn't be so strange if he was on BTw ADSL - the IP profile doesn't immediately track the modem rate and it moves in 256/512kbps steps.

Seems it has been that way for a few days now, maxing out at 30k. He was getting 120k in the past so something must be wrong I would've thought.

interesting thanks, didn't know that, will give it a couple of days and see if it gets any better.
