Am i getting bad line stats.

T_RELCAN-1.4.2(UL)
peration Mode Seletected : G.DMT
downstream Capacity Occupation : 99 %
downstream Noise Margin : 10 dB
downstream Attenuation : 33.5 dB
downstream Output Power : 18.5 dBm
upstream Capacity Occupation : 61 %
upstream Noise Margin : 20 dB
upstream Attenuation : 27.5 dB
upstream Output Power : 11.5 dBm
arrier Load (bits/tone)

I used to connect at 4.5mb now im only connecting at 2.3mb

That site says that im only 1.75 kilometres from my exchange.

Why am i getting bad speeds?

and how do i improve them.

Also is it because im using an old router, Im using an old Asus AAM6000EV

Thanks
Chris

In a straight line.

Because your SNR margin is crap.

Try disconnecting all your extensions and connecting the router to the master socket. If it's no better there isn't much you can do.

Yea i tried unplugging the first faceplate and connecting it directly into the other socket but its still as bad.

A downstream noise margin of 10db is not bad at al. But as has been said for your distance which is more than likely around 2km may be a line issue, but I would start by replacing the router see if it picks up.

depends on your budget realy, if your wanting a decent router sub £50 then go for something like a netgear dg834 v3

or if you have a bigger budget of upto 130 then go for a draytek vigor, I have a cable vigor 2900 series and its one the best I have ever used, never needed a single reboot in over a year of use and has bandwidth limiting and every firewall spec u could need. :)

if this is an adsl max then the snr is set to 6 by default, should the line have problems wether this be somebody keep disconnecting the router or by a bad line the snr can and will be increased by this untill it us stable. the snr can go up as high as 17db that i have seen
