Lines across the screen. Is it RAM?

Hello my fellow online techies!

I noticed my screen has many lines going through it and I've checked the cable and re-inserted the GFX card but nothing has changed.

It looks like this:

Any ideas?

Computer crashes as soon as I hit the desktop.

Quite surprised as I haven't overclocked it, at all! It is 3 years old, tho!

Yes. GPU problem. I also had the same thing with an 8month on PNY 8800. Never overclocked it either.

Out of interest, why do people buy faulty GFX on eBay? So they can try their luck with RMA?

gpu for sure. happened to my laptop. it's possibly overcooked at some point.

They can quite often be fixed fairly easily with the use of a heatgun to reflow the solder.
