I've got a TP Link SG1008D switch (the square one). Can anyone tell me if this supports link aggregation as my new NAS has this feature.

Cheers

No it doesn't.

Typically you're looking around the £100+ mark for a smart managed switch with Link Aggregation.

These are the typical features to look for..

Link aggregation

In reality for a home user, it's super overkill.

You probably wouldn't benefit from it anyway. My Sata3 HDD Max's out at ant 145MB/s direct writing to it, teaming 2 gigabit links up would give you about 250MB/s throughput. So yeah, extra cable for about 20MB/s.

In the home there is no real benifit for your throughput needs, even with redundancy are you really that bothered?

There's nothing stopping you connecting both NAS ports to the switch and setting a different IP address on each, so you could have your HTPC connecting using one IP, and everything else uses a different one.

Hard to see why you'd bother though.
