Free audio / video transcoder

Other than WinAVI I have yet to find a video encoder that can convert my DTV recordings (mpeg2 720x576 16:9 format) which has audio in sync and WinAVI only allows some formats with less manual control.

Mediacoder let me convert the mpg recording to AVI (WMV8 codec @ 1200kbps and LAME mp3 audio @ 192kbps) fast and perfectly in sync 8)

Quality was better than what WinAVI got me too and it's just as fast.

Treid virtual dub? Works fine with my mpeg2 dtv recordings and can convert to almost any format.

Yup i use virtualdub and virtualdub mpeg2 edition and they have audiosync errors when encoding the dtv mpg movies, only dtv rceording though, no other media files etc, what version you using?
