Linking iPod to 360, can it be done?

Can this be done?

I connected my girlfriends MP3 player to one of the USB ports and it didn't seem to work. 'Portable Devices' was just greyed out.

Is it because of the file types? Do they have to be audio files instead of MP3s/WMAs?

It works fine unless you have all the songs from iTunes or something like that. Came home last night to find the girlfriends Nano plugged into the 360 listening to her songs (while she was doing the cleaning! bless)

I think I saw a plugin download on marketplace which allowed you to play non-AAC songs from your ipod to the xbox.

It should work straight away, if not you may have to download a patch via Xbox Live to get it working.

If you look at the downloads on xbox live there is a download called "Optional ipod support". I have downloaded it but so far havent got round to trying the ipod out on the 360, I just use MCE to stream from my laptop. Doesnt do AAC itunes tho. Even when the ipod is plugged into the 360.
