Is it possible to have one folder that links loads of files (movies) across different drives?
I want a folder 'Movies' that lists all my movies, on 3 different hard drives, rather than having 3 separate folders for 3 separate hard drives.
Does that even make sense lol ?
Thanks

...Do you mean a folder of 'shortcuts' to the movies?

If so just make a folder of 'shortcuts' to your movies.

i take it you're not running windows 7 then? that has "Libraries" which does what you want.
Yes, am running Win7, didn't realize you could do that with 'libraries', how exactly? :p

I guess technically yes, if I just created a ton of shortcuts and then pasted into one folder, would that technically work?

open explorer. click libraries in the left hand pane. you could use the existing Videos library (or right click>new to create a new one). then inside your library, you'll see a link "includes X locations". just click on the link to add more folders/drives.

Libraries on W7 is a god-send :) Plop in another disk, add to library and away you go.

The other thing that you could do is mount a drive as a under a folder on an existing drive. this is what I do on my media server box, so I have Movies as the main drive then have a drive mounted under the folder Sci-Fi/Horror, another under Kids/Comedy and another under TV Shows.

...Yeah if you weren't on Win7 then a folder of shortcuts would be fine. Easy if wmv or avi etc but as long as you link to the right file int the video ts folder then DVDs work OK too.

Looks like you're sorted with libraries now :)

Kind of......but not perfect. I'm sure it's a setting I need to change. Right now it states all of the files but they are all separated in their own drives.
Example:
C:documents/movies
x
x
x

F:/Movies
x
x

G:/Movies
x
x

I want them all to be in one folder in alphabetical order and not show their actual location.
