This could be the wrong forum - wasn't sure if networks would be better but if so could a passing mod please move. Ta

I'm wanting to connect my PC up to the 360 via wireless connection.
I've got the Xbox wireless adapter and it's currently accessing live via wireless connection with a Linksys Router BEFW11S4.

My PC is connected to the router by ethernet cable and at the moment the PC and XBox can't see each other.

If I get a cheapo USB wireless network adapter for the PC will this allow the two to talk or do I need something else?

Cheers

:)

You either need Windows Media centre, Windows Media Player 11 or Windows Media Connect to let the PC and 360 see each other. But without Windows Media Centre you are limited as to what you can stream from the PC to 360 without messing about. You don't need any other hardware if your 360 and PC are already conected to the same router.

Edit: Once you have any of the software above it's just a matter of configuration.

I'm on Vista so I assume all that is taken care of?
When I go into Windows Media Player to make the media available to other devices on the network the XBox isn't showing.

Also if you are using Vista, why are you not using the Media Centre part of it. Way better than streaming through Media Player.

The XBox is on at the time.
I just haven't really tried through Media Center.
I was following the MS instructions for Media Player before I realised I even had Media Center. lol
I'l check again with Media Center when I get in.
Cheers

you can stream just about any video format from the 360 now.

i run my media from XP Pro (no media center) over a wireless and generally HD content streams very well.

Ive connected mine now, and set it up to stream over through my xbox, via MP 11....it sees some of my pictures, but none of my videos?? what am i doing wrong here guys?

Click library then add to libarary then click the advanced options button then add the folders the vids are in.

Yes they do have to be in a specific format, WMV mainly although there are ways to get it to play other files on your xbox but it requires a program running on your media centre PC.

They have to be WMV to be able to play on the 360, unless you have a seperate program you can use like n3crius does, I suspect.

I got mine working for a minute then after turning the console off and on again it won't pick up an IP :(
Surely I shouldn't need to configure the wireless settings on the 360 every time?
Does it make a difference if I use 64 or 128 bit encryption?
It's being assigned one by DHCP on the router but I can't ping the IP from the pc.

Any ideas?
Cheers

Ok manager to get mine working...had to allow the firewall to accept that 41962 or whatever port....Will allowing this do anythign else other than let TVersity work?

Also I can play everything....except prison break...hmm...when I try play it...the lil divx folder flases up on my laptop at the bottom, then says it cann plya it on the 360...any ideas?
