linking to your site in popular forums higher google rank?

wondering if putting a link to my site in say my sig, will increase my google ranking? firgured if it does, that there would be like 950 links to my site on this one very popular forum because of the amount of posts i have made. sure this can't be right as why doesn't everyone do this.

aslo while im here, can somebody explain how pagination works in php as im reading a few tutorials and thy dont seem to explain it ni a way i can get my head round. im sure its very simple just me expecting it to be hard or something

I believe the forums aren't indexed by any search engine that obeys robots.txt so linking your site in your sig for the purpose of a better page ranking is pointless (on OcUK at least) - That is assuming I am reading the robots.txt correctly.

wow cool, don't know exaclty what that is but hey. so on some forums it may be good for yuor website? the reason i first started thinking this, though i know its not a forum, i have posted a few times for jobs on gumtree website and since rthen notcied my website has increased huge amounts. would it be wise to post my website with loads of big job provider websites to increase it further?
