My isp provides a ppoa connection so the modem doesn't provide anywhere to configure dns addresses as they are (presumably?) passed to the modem in the dynamic allocation of an IP.
My router was shipped on latest stock ...04 firmware (for the AM300 I think).
It's running the dhcp server for my network but again doesn't offer any way to configure the DNS address it passes to clients, so all dhcp clients default to pointing at the modem for DNS lookups.
I am however intermittently failing to resolve addresses. Clients hardcoded with the external dns addresses don't exhibit this problem. I don't really want to run another dhcp server or another router on the network if i can avoid it. Seems like such a simple fix, but without a UI or an interface to hack it what can I do within the AM200?
I just wanted a simple modem to provide broadband to my hardwired network, my old Dlink had memory problems and had to be rebooted every few days. Any recommendations? Thanks.
