Linksys/Cisco WRT54G2 Problems

Hi all

I don't really post in the Networks section as I don't know too much about them.

I have got myself a new router the WRT54G2 and have set it up, put a password etc on it and i a now connected to the internet. Great! It works! How wrong was I.

Before I go to bed I switch the plug off and turn the modem and router off, after that when I have switched it all on I cannot connect to the internet, I can connect to the router but it won't connect to the internet until I go to the web page config thing and click save settings and then it works.

Does anybody know why I get this?

Which order do you switch them on? The modem should really be on and connected before you switch the router on.

There's not really much reason to switch them off at night, they're hardly massive power gobblers.

I'll never get people who switch them off at night..

I think with Virgin you have to turn the modem on before the router.

Thanks for the help guys.

The thing is that the router and modem are on the same 4 socket extension cable so I have to switch it off to switch the tv, VM box off. I'll have to get another extension I think.
