Hi, All

I was just configuring my Linksys router WRT54GS & buggered up the password.

How can I reset it.

Thanks

Kaz

Yep should be a little reset button somewhere, sometimes its like one of the pin hole types where you need something small to push it...

Credit to the man above me though... ;)

Refurb'd 1.1 GS's (2x the RAM) are doing the rounds atm forjust under £30 if you look hard enough. other than that the GL would probably be the best bet if you want to use Thibor, DD-WRT or Tomato.

Completely off-topic, but consider upgrading your firmware to http://www.thibor.co.uk/ - it's the best thing I did!

I used thibor along with HyperWRT. I'm now using DD-WRT which has a few more features, ie. snmp etc.

Thibor is very good though and I was very happy (rock solid!).

What benefits does DD-WRT offer over Thibor?

Primarily, I'm seeking stability and better performance with BitTorrent and/or eMule.

Well, I've just managed to answer that myself! I reinstalled Thibor shortly after your post to do another comparison. With bit torrent, it appears Thibor seems (in my opinion) to be more stable and not cause as much network trouble as I had with DD-WRT. Whilst using DD-WRT I often found that no matter how much I limited utorrent or azureus (be it number of connections or upload speed) that web browsing would often grind to a halt or be very slow. Closing BT would after a few minutes rectify this. Naturally, in a house of 6 people, this wasn't ideal. For information, I use NTLs 10Mbit service, with my upload restricted to 25KB/s or even ~10-15KB/s the results were the same.

I tried DD-WRT with two WRT54GS routers, both version 1's though. Going back to Thibor/HyperWRT seems to offer me more stability and reliability for BT and web browsing, however, DD-WRT offered a few more options such as SNMP which allowed me to log data usage via wan/lan/wlan individual and so on and so forth. In all honesty, unless you're interested in using such features, I'm going to hazard a guess that I, as much you as you appear to be, would be better off with HyperWRT/Thibor.

Hiya,
I'm going to sidle into this thread on the note of the previous poster :p
Got a WRT54GS V4 here, running DD-WRT, simply because I prefer it. I've tried all the alternative firmwares, and any P2P apps, even when they're not downloading anywhere near max kill the rest of the internet off.
I'm going to acquire a DI-614+ and put it in to see if it makes any difference (Near certain its the routers fault), but I can't find any details on the router itself, other than what I already know- ARM7 CPU (Rev A) & 802.11b. Neither of these really matter to me- Wireless is only really used for the odd laptop connection, and its the P2P killing everything which I want to avoid.
(10 megs cable, running everything with the cable modem directly into the PC gives proper speeds)

Thoughts on the DI-614+ before I drop it in?
