I'm thinking of buying one of these to use with my Telewest internet connection but what's the difference between the two of them?

Linksys WRT54G-UK Wireless-G Broadband Router/4-Port Switch (NW-000-LS)

and

Linksys WRT54GL-UK Wireless-G Broadband Router/4-Port Switch (NW-052-LS)

Am I right to assume the more expensive one is better?

In terms of functionaility none, they're identical. The GL model has linux installed so you can download 3rd party firmware to add extra functionaility. If that sounds like something you would do then there is no reason not to buy the GL.

Even if it's something you wouldn't do, the GL has more RAM so you'll most likely find that it's more stable.

This is the reason why I picked the GL. I've finally got my router working perfectly thanks to tolien and many other people and now it is a dream!

I ended up going for the GS in both the router and pci card.

This is the final step in getting my media centre set up in the living room on my 32 inch LCD TV.

Can't wait!!! :D

What's a VXWorks?

Edit: Did a bit of reading and now realise what you meant by that. Does this mean that there is no third party firmware available for the v6 GS and I've made a big mistake in buying it?

I should've been clearer. VXWorks is the new OS Linksys use on their routers. Previously they used *nix.
