Hey guys, i just grabbed the Linksys open source router & flashed to tomatoe.
I have folllowed a guide to setting up VPN for 1 user and that works. My mate from china can connect to the VPN and see my lan.

However he needs it mainly to go out through my lan onto the WAN as China block Iplayer etc...

Now if he does IPCONFIG it shows his normal connection IP/subnet/Gateway
Then on the Tap connection from OpenVpn it shows IP/Subnet but no Gateway.

I have put a route in the router for anything to do with 192.168.1.102 (his IP) to have a default gateway of 192.168.1.1 (normal gateway).

Now he can get out but his external IP is still that of China. I need to route all his 80/8080/443 traffic out through my public WAN.

Any ideas? I was thinking of setting up a private proxy but an IT guy at work said VPN is the way to go....?

This is a little confusing, so have you setup the VPN and can he connect to it? VPN is the way to go as he will get an IP assigned by your network and will be part of it. The proxy is just as easy to setup and will be faster than the VPN

yes VPN to the router is fine. But he cannot get out to the Web on it. It seems his primary connection takes the data. IE if he goes to whatsmyip he gets a china land IP not my WAN IP.

Its ok i have built a 2003 server and set that as a VPN and i can get both VPN and proxy easily enough.

would have been nice just to have the router do all the work though and not need a server....

Cheers anyways
