Linksys WRT54GS Query ?

sorry shouldn't have been so short on my query, a modem (ethernet connection) will be plugged in to the modem/ethernet port on the router.

If you hook an ethernet ADSL modem to it, it'll work fine with ADSL. The modem will handle the PPPoA bits.

thank you very much :)

just a bit worried as ive seen a lot of people mention its not very good for adsl but fine for cable which confused me a little.

Cheers :)

Its doesnt have an internal ADSL modem built in......if you do have a separate ADSL modem that has an ethernet connection then the router will work fine for you

Cheers for all the info.

Ive actualy purchased all this kit and have it setup as we speak. got the wireless network working with the WRT54GS and the two PC's thats all great, my one probalem as i kind of expected, the internet.

right, from the top. I have plugged my Voyager 205 (via Ethernet) in to the port on the back of the WRT54GS as stated in the instructions. The Router is all setup on DHCP and uner the 1st page of settings on the WRT54GS menu system is states what internet type to use

Off of the top of my head, the settings are as following DHCP Assigned / PPPoE / and various others. Ive left this at DHCP assigned as i assume this is correct. But im still unable to get my internet connection through the wireless network. Any ideas ? if you need any more info simply ask and ill post.

ISP = BT Internet ( basic package ) 2GB i believe ( its in my mothers name ) so im not 100% sure.
ADSL Modem = Voyager 205
Wireless Router = Linksys WRT54GS.

cheers for any help :)

Simple way to get round it. Connect one of the LAN ports on the WRT54GS to the ethernet port on the 205, and disable DHCP etc on the WRT54GS. Ta da, should all work.

Im having the same issue here, the voyager 205 connected to the wan port on the linksys router, picks up an ip address from the voyager 205 (192.168.1.6) but no internet connection.........

Anyone any ideas??
