have this router at home, mum uses it through wired and my sister through wireless when she's back.
It seems to work for them although they complain of slow internet, I think its down to Virgin.

But since I have been home the internet keeps dying, sometimes every 5mins, sometimes its fine for hours and then will die.

Its not the internet that dies though, its the router, pulling the power out and putting it back in gets it to work again for a while.

It has connected at the most:
1 wireless macbook
1 wired XP pc
1 wired windows 2000 which is just used for downloading torrents

The router has the latest firmware on it and i reset it to defaults and then added ports etc to it from then, but still has the problem.

Is it the router in general or is it due to something flooding the router and crashing it ?

What version is the router - if it is v4 or v5 then these are lobotomised and run a non open-source OS
If it is an earlier version, then check out the DD-WRT firmware for a lovely solid working router

just had a nice read on some forums, including MacNN.
Seems that macbook pro's and linksys don't always work together!
Some linksys routers are fine but a lot of people have trouble with them, looks like ill have to sell this one and get a different make sometime soon :/
odd though!

edit:

Incase anyone else is having the same problem or similar, for V5 of this router, follow this and it should work fine, im testing it out now :)
